Hire Me

And by ‘me’ I mean Airwallex; come and work for Airwallex

In March I spoke about my reasons for joining Airwallex. 9mths into the role, the opportunity to impact the business has surpassed my expectations, and I remain convinced Airwallex has tremendous tailwinds and a bright future.

Airwallex feels at home among many Silicon Valley technology companies. A true unicorn in Melbourne, but even in cities like San Francisco where tech opportunities are abundant Airwallex makes a compelling pitch: Established enough to be low risk, small enough for incoming team members to make an impact, and demonstrated rapid growth in a growing market.

As I think about where to spend my time in 2021, recruiting and team development stands out as the priority. Increasing our velocity will involve creating the right opportunities for the right people.

While we have positions across a large spectrum of roles and cities, there are a set of technical roles which are particularly important to me in 2021, and strong candidates can be summarised as the following:

Intelligent, engineering minds; motivated by impact.

Intelligent – I want to emphasise that tenure or specific experiences are not a significant concern to me. Intelligent minds can quickly pick up the nuances of the industry and have the advantage of bringing a new perspective and an open mind when growing our business into new areas.

Motivated – We’re looking for employees to come on the journey with us in driving the future of our business. High-initiative individuals will thrive here.

Engineering minds – A founding education in STEM degrees, particularly engineering, create a compelling base for a spectrum of roles Iā€™m hoping to fill:

Of course Product Managers can be analytical, so assume this 2D plane can experience Interstellar-level warping.

The Solution Engineering role posted in multiple cities around the world including Melbourne, San Francisco (or US West Coast), and London, combines this spectrum:

Working collaboratively with both customers and internal teams you will deliver product demonstrations, propose appropriate solutions to meet the customer’s goals, own the product and technology components of RFP responses and ensure the successful delivery of each project, which may involve sophisticated API integration, user experience design, and software development.

For engineers with an interest in business development, or for consultants looking to re-engage with their technical education, this could be a perfect opportunity.

Conversely, you may have a spike in a subset of these skills. Software Engineers will feel at home in the code base full-time, while Product Managers can increase focus on user and business requirements.

I want to emphasise that with the base skills above, from graduates to industry veterans (we have open positions at multiple seniority levels), Iā€™d be very interested in talking with you about opportunities at Airwallex. I’d like to focus on core abilities rather than the nuances of particular requirements.
